Intellivision

The Intellivision was released by Mattel in 1979. The word "intellivision" was derived from "intelligent television". With a total of 125 games released for the system, it was the first console to pose a serious threat to, at that time, Atari's dominance of the video game market. A series of ads was produced that mercilessly attacked the Atari 2600's lesser capabilities with side-by-side game comparisons and slogan's such as "I didn't know".
